LEVELS IS...

...a free, supervised teen center for seventh grade through college age students, located in the Main Building of the Great Neck Library.
...a welcoming space where teens can do schoolwork, play games, listen to music, participate in group projects, and socialize with friends -- whether once in a while or six days a week.
...a place created BY and FOR teenagers. Teens themselves are given the opportunity to plan Levels' programming and activities, continually shaping Levels into a teen center that is vital and relevant to their needs and interests.
...a place where teens can learn responsibility and leadership through the arts.
...a cultural arts center featuring workshops in theatre, dance, art, music,
video, puppetry, cooking and SAT preparation, among other offerings.
...a weekend gathering place where teens can participate in fun organized events as well as public performances.
...staffed by professional youth workers and award-winning artists actively working in their fields.
...an experience-based education program where teens learn by doing.
...a unique environment where dedication, enthusiasm and commitment are more important than age or grade level.

...built on the promise that teens of varying ages can work together to each other's benefit. Older teens frequently mentor younger students, who in turn gain confidence, learn practical interpersonal skills and are better prepared to meet the challenges of their later teenage years.
...home to a television/video production facility, a music recording studio, a thriving student-run theatre and performance program, a homework center with multiple computers, and a co-operative cooking area.
...a
performance space where students plan and produce both informal and large-scale
band concerts, theatre performances, film festivals, dance shows, coffeehouses,
fashion shows and other artistic events.
...a
place where almost any creative idea can be brought to life.
...a place where teenagers can be (and discover) themselves.
