Computer Classes @ your Library

REGISTRATION is REQUIRED FOR ALL SESSIONS.

To register for classes at the Main Library, call 466-8055, ext. 246 weekdays
between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

For sessions held at the Branches, call 466-8055, ext. 232 for Station and 466-8055, ext. 234 for Parkville.

Computer Workshop:

Computer instruction provided by the staff of Sharper Training Solutions, Inc.
Each course is Hands On and has limited enrollment.


Computer Kindergarten for Grownups™

This is a slow-paced, user-friendly workshop for first-time
computer users. Using IBM compatible computers, this unique class covers the basics in a way that even the most inexperienced user will understand. We will cover turning the computer on, the Windows desktop, using the mouse, opening programs, understanding Windows elements, inputting text and saving a file, and turning the computer off. Windows 95, 98, ME and XP will be addressed. (approximately 2 hours)
Please Note: Priority will be given to individuals who have not previously taken the class.

Computer 1st Grade for Grownups™

In this workshop you will learn how to work with text including inputting, inserting, moving, and erasing, learn basic word processing skills, and understand files and commands.
Prerequisite: Computer Kindergarten for Grownups

Computer 2nd Grade for Grownups™

In this workshop you will learn how to work with numbers including inputting, inserting, moving, erasing and simple mathematical operations. Included will be an introduction to spreadsheets providing an understanding of basic techniques, creating a workbook, inputting data, editing data, formulas and functions, working with columns and rows, formatting and spreadsheet design.

Computer 3rd Grade for Grownups™

This hands-on workshop covers multitasking, working with graphics and using Windows drawing and painting tools, and using copy and paste and cut and paste within a document, to another document within the same application, and to another application. Copying both text and graphics will be addressed.

Can’t get those margins even? Confused by formatting? Feel like smacking your computer? Where did that font come from anyway? This workshop will review some common problems people have using Microsoft Word. Time allowing, we will also try to solve your specific problems.

This IS NOT a basics class for Microsoft Word.
Attendees should be regular users of Microsoft Word who have specific problems making the program do what they want it to do.
