Museum Pass Program

Long Island Children's Museum - admission for a family of four (must include children).
Old Westbury Gardens - admission to the House and Gardens for two adults and their children. 10% discount at the Plant Shop and the Gift Shop.

Cradle of Aviation Museum - admission to the museum galleries for 2 adults and up to 4 children, 18 years and younger. Discount on purchase of IMAX tickets. 15% discount at the Museum Shop.

Garvies Point Museum - admission to the museum for 2 adults and up to 4 children between the ages of 5 and 12. Children under 5 are free.  Free admission to any films or programs scheduled on day of visit. 10% discount in gift shop. Nassau County Museum of Art - admission for two adults and up to 4 children under the age of 16.

Museum Pass Policy

Free family passes to the Long Island Children’s Museum, The Nassau County Museum of Art, The Cradle of Aviation Museum, Garvies Point Preserve and Old Westbury Gardens are available to Great Neck Library Cardholders in good standing over 18 years old.  By clicking the button below, you have agreed to our Museum Pass policy.

Museum passes may be reserved in advance.  Reservations will be taken up to 90 days in advance, subject to availability on a first come, first served basis.

A pass to a particular museum can only be checked out once per month per household and cannot be renewed.

Passes must be checked out on the day of your reservation and may be borrowed for four (4) days.  The four (4) days include the day you pick up the pass and the day you return the pass. Passes are picked up at the Owning Branch Location of the pass.   The passes must be returned to the Owning Branch Location of the pass one (1) hour before closing the day the pass is due. For example, a pass borrowed from the Lakeville Branch must be returned to the Lakeville Branch one hour before closing on the date the pass is due; a pass borrowed from the Parkville Branch must be returned to the Parkville Branch one hour before closing on the date the pass is due; a pass borrowed from the Station Branch must be returned to the Station Branch one hour before closing on the date the pass is due; a pass borrowed from the Main Library must be returned to the Main Library one hour before closing on the date the pass is due. Passes may not be placed in the book drop.

Late fees are $5 per day.  A patron who loses a pass will be charged $25.

Patrons should call the museum directly for updated information on hours of operation, parking and/or directions. Each museum reserves the right to determine the rules and regulations governing the use of the museum pass. The museums have the right to change hours of operation, so it is always advisable to contact the museum prior to your visit.

Q:  Who can borrow a museum pass?

A:   Great Neck Library Resident Card holders over the age of 18.

Q:  Where do I pick up my museum pass?

A:  You must pick up your museum pass at the owning Branch location of the museum pass that you reserve.  Each museum pass has a specific owning Branch location which is displayed when you make your reservation.  If you cannot travel to the owning Branch location of a specific museum pass, do not reserve the museum pass for that owning Branch location.  Rather, reserve the museum pass located at the owning Branch location to which you can travel.  When you pick up your museum pass, please bring with you your confirmation which prints when you finalize your reservation for a specific museum pass for a specific date. If you forget to bring your confirmation, staff will print it for you at the Library.  The pass will be checked out to you on your Great Neck Library card.

Q:  Where do I return my museum pass?

A:  You must return your museum pass to the owning Branch location of the museum pass. For example, the museum pass borrowed from Lakeville Branch must be returned to Lakeville Branch; the museum pass borrowed from Parkville Branch must be returned to Parkville Branch; the museum pass borrowed from Station Branch must be returned to Station Branch; the museum pass borrowed from the Main Library must be returned to the Main Library Circulation Desk. Each museum pass has a specific owning Branch location which is displayed when you make your reservation.  If you cannot travel to the owning location Branch of a specific museum pass, do not reserve the museum pass for that owning Branch location.  Rather, reserve the museum pass located at the owning Branch location to which you can travel.

Q:  What museums passes are available?

A:  We currently have passes for the Cradle of Aviation Museum, Garvies Point Preserve, Long Island Children's Museum, Nassau County Museum of Art, and Old Westbury Gardens. 

Q:   How do I reserve a pass for a specific date?

A:   You may reserve a pass online by clicking hereYou may also reserve a pass by calling the Library at 466-8055 extensions 202, 209, 218 or other branch and staff will help you place the reservation.

Q:   How will I know what passes are available?

A:   If a pass is available, you will see the words Request Pass.  Click the words to request the pass.

Q:  What if it says All Passes Reserved next to the pass?

A:   This means that all passes have been reserved for that date.  Find the next convenient available date that says Request Pass and request a pass for that date.

Q:  What if it says No Passes Available next to the pass?

A:   This means that the passes are not available to be reserved.  Find the next convenient available date that says Request Pass and request a pass for that date. 

Q:  What if it says Closed next to the pass?

A:   This means that the museum is closed to the public.

Q:   How will I be notified that the pass is ready for me to pickup?

A:   You may choose when an email will be sent to you to remind you of your reservation when you make your reservation.  In order to receive an email reminder, you must enter your email address in the online request form when you request the pass. If you do not enter an email address or do not want an email reminder sent, you must unclick the box next to SEND A CONFIRMATION EMAIL TO THE ABOVE ADDRESS and change SEND EMAIL REMINDER to Not At All in the drop down menu.  There will be no other reminders, so make sure you put your reservation date on your calendar.

Q:  For how long may I borrow the pass?

A:  Passes may be borrowed for four (4) days. The four (4) days include the pickup and return days.  The pass must be return to its owning Branch location one (1) hour before closing on the day the pass is due.  Passes may not be returned in the book drop.

Q:  How many times may I borrow a specific pass? Can I renew the pass?

A:   Each household may borrow each pass a maximum of once a month. Passes may not be renewed.

Q:  What if the pass is returned late? What if I lose the pass?

A:   Late fees are $5 a day.  However, we encourage all participants to be courteous and respectful of others who have made plans with family and friends to visit the museum on a specific day. Replacement charge for a lost pass is $25. 

Q:   What does the museum pass entitle me to?

A:   The pass provides access to the museum itself.  There may be an additional charge for parking which may not be covered by the pass.  Prior to your visit to a museum, call or view the museum's website for additional information. Museums have the right to change hours of operation, so it is always advisable to contact the museum prior to your visit. 

Q:  How do I cancel a reservation?

A:   You may cancel reservations that are 48 hours or more in the future. To do this, click MY PASSES (located under the calendar) and enter your barcode. Once your barcode is confirmed, a list of your reservations will appear. Click the button CANCEL THE RESERVATION next to the reservation you want to cancel. Confirm your choice and close the window. You may also call extensions 202, 218 or 209 for assistance. 

Q:  Will other museums be added to the program?

A:   This is a trial program funded by a special grant. If the program is a success, we will seek further funds and add more museums.
